Duhaney Park Police Seize Two Firearms, Arrest One Man
Detectives from the Duhaney Park Police Station seized two firearms within minutes of each other and arrested one man on Saturday, July 22.
Reports are that about 2:20 a.m. detectives were on mobile patrol in Sherlock Crescent when they observed a man standing on the road in front of an apartment building with what appeared to be a firearm in his hand. On the approach of the Police, the man ran into his apartment and was pursued by the Police and apprehended. A search of his room was conducted and the weapon, a .357 Smith and Wesson magnum revolver with six rounds, seized.
The man, who has since been charged, has been identified as 19-year-old Jevaun Hibbert of Sherlock Crescent, Kingston 20. His court date will be announced a later date.
About twenty-five minutes later, the same team of detectives seized a 345 Sturn Ruger .45 Pistol with seven rounds of ammunition. Reports are that the team was on patrol on Loraine Avenue when a group ran upon seeing the Police. A search of the area was done and the weapon found.
