The happily married Detective Inspector Carol Chisholm- Tyrell has had a very productive Federation year in her assigned portfolio and has added several firsts to her resume. For the first time under her guidance, the Federation hosted a seminar for members on interdiction and suspension.
The seminar objectives were met as its purpose was to empower those members who felt alone and distanced from the organization during their challenges. In keeping with the mandate of Health Lifestyle and Gender Affairs, she collaborated with other stakeholders to host a Domestic Violence Seminar under the theme, ‘Serving, Protecting and Reassuring in a demanding Environment.’ Forty -five personnel from Clarendon, Saint Thomas and divisions within Kingston and Saint Catherine participated in what participants deemed to be a very enlightening seminar.
Throughout the year she has assisted in planning other seminars and workshops that has benefited Federated members. Detective Inspector Chisholm – Tyrell has dealt with several welfare matters involving rank and file members and senior officers and has represented members’ welfare to the Police High Command.
She has successfully argued several human rights issues and matters of promotion pertaining to members. During her tenure at the Federation she has held the portfolios of Director of Training, General Secretary and presently Compulsory Signing Officer. She was also the secretary of the Inspectors Branch Board
Detective Inspector Chisholm has achieved several certificates with distinction in Introduction to Micro-Computer for Business Application, Principles and Technique of Counseling, Supervisory Management and General Psychology which she acquired from the University of West
Indies School of Continuing Studies.
Having enlisted in the Jamaica Constabulary Force on the 13th of October, 1986, she has served the Technical Service Division as a Finger Print Expert with formal training in India, Matildas Corner and Stadium Police Stations as the Sub- Officer in charge. She has been an Inspector since 2007. She is an exercise enthusiast with a passion for listening to anyone who needs a shoulder to cry on. Also an ardent Adventist, she had a fairy tale wedding, preceded a day by her baptism at the Andrews Seventh day Adventist Church where both husband and wife recommitted to Christ. She likes to surf the internet, and listen to vintage music.
She is motivated by her only child Javon who inspires her to goodness. Her daily goal is to listen and love, giving service to all whom she comes in contact with.
